Our fabulous week of riding on the Spanish Costa Blanca that will give you a solid block of endurance riding on the best training terrain in Europe! You will ride on the same climbs and descents that the pros flock to every winter to prepare for the coming season - Astana, Katusha, Omega-Quickstep, Radioshack and BMC were all here last year. The Spanish Tour (La Vuelta) regularly features the same routes you will be riding on. So, don’t stay at home to train in the rain, join Dan and Train in Spain!


The week will involve 6 days of guided riding in the Marina Alta hills and mountains. Daily rides will vary from 80 kms to 160 kms and will total around 600 kms for the week so you need to have a reasonable level of fitness to complete the week. The rides will suit most club riders, sportive riders and those preparing to race. It will not suit riders who are not used to back-to-back days of riding or those who have not already got a decent endurance base. If you are in doubt, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We will split the group into abilities and each group will have a guide. As a reference point, the following will give you an idea of how it works:

Group 1. Strong riders who may be preparing for the race season and have a Cat 3 or better licence as well as strong club riders. This group will be looking to complete their training rides in the hills somewhere around 29 to 32 kmph. There will be a Cat 1 guide with this group. Please note, it is not a week of racing – the idea is to go home fitter and stronger, not feeling like you have completed a 6-day stage race!

Group 2. Good club and sportive riders who have a solid fitness base and can typically ride 3-5 hours in the hills and mountains at an average pace of between 25 to 28 kmph. Gold and silver diplomas in sportives might be on your radar for this year

Group 3. Riders who have the stamina to do tough rides at a moderate pace of between 21-24 kmph. This can include riders who don’t get out as much as they used to, younger riders looking to build up their endurance base, riders recovering from injury and club riders who are behind with their training programmes.

What’s included in the price?

Saturday luxury coach transfers from Alicante to Denia and return following Saturday AM. Trip to Denia is at approx 12.30 pm and the return to the airport around 8 am. Please book flights whenever possible that arrive before or around midday and depart mid- to late morning from Alicante.

  • Luxury Apartment Accommodation (with Half Board). Meals are buffet style, eat all you want (drinks not included).
  • Unlimited access to an excellent gymnasium with weight room, spinning bikes, rowing machines, spa, sauna, indoor pool and Jacuzzi.
  • Free Massage from Spa masseur (one per client).
  • Safe in room for passport and valuables.
  • THE MAIN EVENT . . . 6 days of guided riding in the Marina Alta area (grouped by ability) for 3-6 hours per day and approx 650 kms for the week.
  • A Back-Up Support Vehicle to carry water, tubes, tools, extra clothing etc.
  • A body (fat) compositional analysis for each rider with information on 'ideal' body composition for cycling.

On and off the bike coaching from Dan Bennett, including evening talks and gym sessions covering goal setting for the year, weight training and core stability.

(Private apartment accommodation)

The trip includes staying at the Ogisaka Gardens Aparthotel (all rooms refurbished in 2010). These are luxury individual apartments and have an American kitchen with washing machine, microwave, cooker, fridge etc. A bathroom, a lounge with TV and a double bedroom. The lounge also has a very comfortable fold-down, double sofa bed so if you decide to share with a friend you can still have your own sleeping space (much better than the normal twin room hotel option).

Because the apartments are a lot more spacious than a standard hotel room, you keep your bikes right there with you – no need to worry about where it is being stored.

About Dan Bennett

Dan Bennett has a degree in Sports Science and has been training athletes for the last 17 years. He has written and published a number of articles and booklets on core stability, flexibility, nutrition and weight training for cycling.

His first love is cycling and he has helped many clients to fulfill both their dreams and their potential whether that is achieving a personal best or successfully completing sportives around Europe including the Etape du Tour, Maratona del Dolomites, La Marmotte, La Ventoux, Fred Witton and Dragons ride.  He also manages the Progressive Cycle Coaching Development Squad whose objective is to work with young riders preparing them to compete successfully in races in the UK and Europe. During the camp, you will receive on and off the bike coaching from Dan, including evening talks and gym sessions covering goal setting for the year, weight training and core stability. You will also have the option of a free one-to-one consultation with Dan during the week. A great chance to discuss your objectives for the coming year and assess how to best achieve them!
