Our Level 2, October 2023 Half Term Course is a 5 day course with each session lasting 90 minutes.
Here's a glimpse of what this course offers by our DBS checked coaches:
Take your skills up a notch with this level, building on riding techniques beyond Level 1. This includes gaining confidence on the bike on various terrains, adjusting speed safely, riding in pairs or groups, perfecting body positioning on the bike, and thriving in game, race, or competition environments. Ideal for riders in the middle of primary school, around years 3 to 5.!
Course contents:
Day 1: Mount and dismount your bike safely, start and stop safely, learn the basics of balancing on the bike,increase confidence in removing one hand from the bars, adjust speed and bicycle to slalom around cones.
Day 2: To be able to follow a rider in front of you safely, ride next to at least one rider, adjust speed and position according to obstacles,
Day 3: To be able to ride one handed, be aware of your surroundings, riding in a group, be aware of other riders close to you, ride safely at a slow speed, accelerate, freewheel and ride slowly, adjust body position on the bike and duck under an obsatcle.
Day 4: To be able to ride whilst hand signalling, look around and noticing things around you, change body position on the bike, adjust speed to allow pick and placing down of an item, ride close together around a course, and ride/sprint in a group situation.

What do I need for my child to take part?
- A safe working bike with two working brakes ( All bikes will be checked at the start of the course).
- Correctly fitted helmet.
- Suitable clothing for weather on the day.
- Suncream to protect from sunburn
- Sensible footwear.
Please ensure the rider's bike is in good working condition. If the bike needs a little work, head along to Riks Bikes in Janes Lane, Burgess Hill for a service or repair.
