What are these plans for?

These wattage training programmes are aimed at road cyclists who wish to improve their performance on the bike. They have been specifically designed to increase the cyclist’s power output over a time period of 8 weeks. These programmes are part split into 3 eight week plans making a total of 24 weeks of power based training. By the end of the 24 week period you will have been taken through scientifically designed training systems that will enable you to peak for your main road race or sportive event of the year.

Which plan should I choose?

The plans are designed build around time availability of 5 to 10 hours or 10 to 15 hours per week and wattage output. You need to decided on the amount of time you have available and which power output or functional threshold power (FTP) to train at. Then pick it up and make the purchase. When you increase our FTP you should buy the nearest next training plan to your FTP.

What should I do before I buy the plan?

Before you buy the plan you should know your FTP, to test it you should complete a 20 minute time trial effort at full pace after a good 15 miunte warm that increases in intensity. You should retest your FTP before you purchase your next training block to ensure you are training using the correct wattage zones on the next training plan itself.

After you have completed the FTP assessment you will need to calculate your FTP. To calculate your FTP and which wattage plan to purchase next you will need to do the following calculation. Take the average amount of watts you produced during the 20 minute assessment then minus 5% off this number, you will now have calculated your FTP.
